2Northdown
2Northdown is our 100-capacity live events space located in the heart of King’s Cross, London.
After officially opening its doors in June 2017, 2Northdown has quickly become the go-to live venue for the entire industry. Hosting the comedy elite through to the newest of new.
The team have worked hard to create a multi-purpose space to cater to a wide variety of intimate live events, private hires or even as a rehearsal space. The experienced industry-specialist staff are here to help make every show as enjoyable as possible!
Since 2017, we have hosted shows 7 nights a week including regular mixed bill nights, new material nights and tour preview shows. Our stage has hosted comedy royalty like Alan Carr, Sara Pascoe, John Richardson, James Acaster, Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett, Frank Skinner, Aisling Bea, Phil Wang and lots more!
As well as the comedy elite, we run an annual New Act Competition to find the next new up and coming talent. The competition is open to all new acts including sketch groups, character comedy and alternative acts.
Each year, we have hundreds of applicants who are eager to perform in front of our judging panel of esteemed industry guests including talent agents, live and tv producers.
Each act performs a 5 minute set and is scored on on their writing; performance; star quality; originality and innovation. The comedians ranked highest by both the audience and our hand-picked panel of industry judges will progress to the next stage.
2Northdown’s New Act Competition 2020 saw 9 out of our 10 finalists get signed to an agent who saw them perform in our competition.
2Northdown has many loyal audience members who visit us monthly to watch one of our amazing monthly regular shows including The Good Friday Show, Wacky Racists hosted by Sophie Duker, Quantum Leopard, Sara Barron & Friends, Steen Raskopoulos Improvises With Friends, Berk’s Nest at 2Northdown and Off The Kerb’s Some Night.
Over the years, we have partnered with many charities to host some brilliant comedy charity events to raise money and awareness for some very important causes including Haven Coffee Refugee Charity, Women’s Equality Party, Canned Laughter, CALM, Boys Get Sad Too and Sanctus.
Every May, June & July, our lovely venue plays an important part in helping comedians workshop and develop their stand up hours for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. We host 3 Edinburgh previews a night and some times all-dayers on the weekend to help the comedians prep for their shows. In the past years, we have even hosted previews of Edinburgh Comedy Award Winners Jordan Brookes and Rose Matafeo.
And then, come September, we hand pick our favourite shows our team watched at the Edinburgh Fringe and bring them to our venue in King’s Cross to host our very own “Picks Of The Fringe Fest.” We want everyone in London to share the fun of the fringe. Past line ups include work in progresses from sisters Jessie & Bebe Cave, Best Newcomer Nominees Huge Davies and Crybabies and sold out shows from The LOL Word, Rachel Fairburn, Mat Ewins, Tony Kantwell and many more!
When we aren’t hosting a comedy show, our lovely venue is often hired out for workshops, masterclasses, conferences, private parties, exhibitions, book launches, meet and greets. Being just a stone throw away from London’s King’s Cross station, our black box venue makes it the perfect space for whatever you need.
Our bar is fully stocked with independent local products including Five Points Brewing Co. and Hawkes Ciders.
